The population of Etwatwa work in the surrounding areas: Springs, Benoni, Boksburg and Kempton Park however unemployment is rife with 60% of the residents of Etwatwa being unemployed. There is only one public health clinic in the area to serve Etwatwa. The Unjani PHC Clinic has been open for one year now and is making a huge difference in the community. To celebrate the clinic’s first birthday RTT will be launching a loyalty card programme, which recognises and rewards returning patients. On average the clinic sees 250 patients per month. From interviews with patients of the Unjani PHC Clinic the overriding reason for the choice of the Unjani PHC compared with that of the free public clinic was because of the quality of service that is offered by the Unjani PHC. Furthermore every single patient who participated in the survey said that they would recommend the Unjani PHC to their friends and family.
The staff in the Unjani unit (a dispensing nurse and nurse assistant) are committed to the community and their upliftment. You are always greeted with a smiling face and treated with respect and dignity. |
