The Pharmaceutical industry in South Africa for Cold Chain products and processes has been without a voice for far too long. Over the last few years, Mike Harrigan of RTT has made it his mission to bridge this void and establish an industry forum.
As a result of RTT Medical’s involvement in Cold Chain distribution, temperature and route profiling studies undertaken in consultation with Strategnos, Mike approached PIASA (Pharmaceutical Industry Association of South Africa) to facilitate a national forum.
Consequently, on the 26th July 2010, the first official SA Cold Chain forum was held at PIASA offices in Midrand where Mike Harrigan gave the opening speech and the purpose and intent of the forum was discussed and agreed.
In March this year, RTT sponsored the first South African International Cold Chain Seminar at the Sandton Sun Convention Centre. Key speakers included Dr Rafik Bishara of the Parental Drug Association in USA and the Keynote speaker was our own CEO Dr Iain Barton. The four day seminar covered a wide variety of Cold Chain topics.
This positive interaction between industry leaders led to a sharing of information regarding important aspects of Cold Chain management and processes and was a resounding success! |
