THE CHALLENGE
For underserved communities in Africa, a major challenge in accessing medicine is the distance to the nearest clinic or hospital. This, coupled with major infrastructure deficiencies, puts strain on the public healthcare system. In such communities, public health care providers face the problems of how to affordably set up an appropriate clinical environment and to have access to essential medication stored in a pharmaceutically compliant environment.
THE SOLUTION
Our innovative Clinic-in-a Box (CiB) provides a pre-fabricated, ready-to-use clinic and dispensary unit which can be rapidly erected in the field and can be fully maintained by the local community. CiBs offer a flexible solution for anything from a single clinic to an extensive healthcare complex.
The CiB's modular components are flat packed in containers for ease of transport. Single or multiple units can be easily assembled and installed in remote areas, do not require a crane on site and can be built adjacent to existing buildings and clinics without disrupting their activities. CiBs are fully equipped for both patient examination and dispensing of medication and their full functionality is quick to set up. They provide a clinical environment for healthcare services as well as pharmaceutically compliant storage facilities for essential medication. |
HOW WE DO IT
The fully kitted clinic and dispensary units are transported in a container to an identified site and rapidly erected by an experienced assembly team. RTT Tactix takes care of the production, delivery and installation.
It is the client's responsibility to identify a site for the installation of the CiB unit. These sites should ideally have basic amenities such as electricity and water connections. However from our experience with installations in remote parts of Africa this is often not possible. To overcome this RTT Tactix provides a generator for back-up power. The client is required to ensure site readiness, such as levelling the ground and in most cases laying gravel or a concrete slab.
RTT Tactix installs the infrastructure and hands over a fully functioning facility to you. We also train your staff to use and maintain the CiB.
Production time is 6 weeks and installation takes 5-10 days. Within 6 weeks of placing an order, depending on location, the client takes delivery of a robust clinic, fully functioning and fully compliant with pharmaceutical regulations.
THE SPECS
The full CiB unit comprises 28.8m2 of floor space, divided into a clinic unit and a dispensary unit. The standard clinic unit provides 14.4m2 of floor space divided into 2 fully equipped examination rooms and a reception area. The dispensary unit provides 14.4m2 of floor space and is equipped with storage and packing space and an insulated, lockable and secure dispensing hatch door. Materials used are lightweight and insulated and a sealed lightweight IBR roof joins the clinic and the dispensary unit, providing a shaded waiting area.
STORAGE-IN-A-BOX
Storage-in-a-Box (SiB) is a similar facility to CiB. It provides a bulk storage area without windows and is fitted with storage racks.
