RTT Trans Africa is the operational arm of RTT Health Sciences' pharmaceutical supply chain into Africa. We bring together a range of RTT offerings to create holistic supply chain solutions for
delivering essential medicines to developing markets. RTT Trans Africa was established in response to a pivotal contract that RTT secured in 2005 with the US-based SCMS (Supply Chain Management Systems) set
up by USAID to deliver for PEPFAR, the US President's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief.
To address the considerable challenges of providing a reliable and sufficient supply of ARVs to remote locations on the continent, RTT Trans Africa has developed an innovative and world-leading multi-market
warehouse (MMW) model that delivers our signature Five Rs of Supply Chain Management: Rapid, Regular, Reliable, Resupply of Real requirements. Today we can boast
a ground-breaking track record of success and an unrivalled footprint in this arena, with our expertise deployed in 16 African countries.
THREE KEY FEATURES OF RTT TRANS AFRICA
1. Hubs Into Africa
At the core of RTT Trans Africa's success are our strategically located pharmaceutical warehouse hubs located in South Africa, Kenya and Ghana, as well as secondary hubs in Nigeria and Malawi, that
allow us to serve regional grids in the SADC countries and West and East Africa. Our hubs house reservoirs of stock within each region, from which we can supply local centres quickly and efficiently.
We plan the inventories in our hubs using consumption forecasts based on aggregated demand and supply within a region. With our accurate forecasting systems and the location of stock within easy
reach of local consumers, RTT Trans Africa has completely transformed the supply of pharmaceuticals to remote locations. Lead times have been slashed, we have reduced stockouts to zero and we have
been able to replace air freight with shipping by road and sea, resulting in outstanding cost savings for our clients. The result is more funds available for more stock that is reaching more patients,
when and where they need it.

2. Established networks in the African market
RTT Trans Africa offers pharmaceutical companies a door into the African market. Our hub and spoke network of regional and local MMWs connects to consumers from South Africa to Ethiopia. We procure for US
Government supported HIV/AIDS projects and similar projects funded by organizations such as The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM), giving multi-national pharmaceutical companies
the opportunity to extend their markets into Africa via RTT Trans Africa's supply chain.
3. Sustainable solutions
RTT Trans Africa is implementing solutions that will benefit all stakeholders, from the manufacturers, to the distributors, to public health care organisations and, of course, the end consumers. We are
empowering communities, both by building their capacity and providing easier access to health care; we are raising the quality of public health care by delivering highly effective disease prevention
programmes; we have significant B2B benefits to offer; and we are establishing public-private-partnerships that will sustain public health care practice in the developing world for the long-term future.
